My Electric Avenue Presents at Low Carbon Network & Innovation (LCNI) Conference

8th October, 2014

My Electric Avenue has been invited to present at this year’s Low Carbon Networks & Innovation (LCNI) Conference at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). This is the largest  conference on innovation for the industry and an opportunity to explore the initial findings from our flagship Tier 2 LCN Fund project, My Electric Avenue!

We’ve already started collecting some network data from our clusters over the summer months and are already seeing signs of the potential impact EV charging can have on a local electricity network.

The graph above shows the average daily ‘peaks’ in electricity demand – usually we see one peak in the morning as people wake up and get ready for work and another peak in the early evening as they return home and cook dinner etc. The blue line shows what the network looked like in one of our Technical trial ‘clusters’ earlier this year; the red line shows what the network looks like after we delivered our My Electric Avenue Nissan LEAFs. This gives us an early view of the impact that ‘clusters’ of EVs can have on local electricity networks, and a sign of what it might look like over the next few months, as the winter draws in and our electricity usage (i.e. central heating) goes up!

To find out more about the data we’re collecting on our Technical trial ‘clusters’ please come and talk to us (we’ll see you at stand S16!), or see us present on Tuesday 21st October (Breakout session 1.1).

The My Electric Avenue Project was delivered between January 2013 and December 2015 by EA Technology on behalf of Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) as part of the Low Carbon Networks (LCN) Fund suite of innovation projects. As the Project is now complete, this webpage will no longer be updated, however you can learn more about the work undertaken by EA Technology at and SSEN at
